Your information
Privacy Policy
Hello, we're Roca & Co.
Dianne · The Matriarch's Map ("the app") and the website matriarchsmap.com are made and run by Roca & Co., LLC, a Louisiana limited liability company ("we," "us"). We're a small team, and we like knowing where our own information goes. So this page tells you, in plain words, what the app and website handle, where it goes, and the choices you have.
Effective date: October 20, 2026. Questions? Write to support@matriarchsmap.com, or to Roca & Co., LLC, 318 Elmwood Dr, Lafayette, LA 70503.
The short version
- Most of what you enter stays on your phone. Birthdays, the people you add, your Soul Journal, your conversations with Dianne, and what Dianne remembers live on your device, and in your phone's own iCloud or Google backup if that's turned on. We don't keep them on our servers.
- When you talk with Dianne, what she needs leaves your phone. Your question and the facts she needs pass through our server to Anthropic, the AI company whose model writes her replies. Our database keeps no copy of your conversations.
- Our server keeps very little: a random account ID, not tied to your name or email, and a record of how much you use Dianne. If you subscribe, RevenueCat, our subscription provider, keeps your subscription status.
- No ads, no tracking, no selling. We don't sell your information or share it for advertising. That's not the business we're in.
- You're in charge. You can see and delete anything Dianne remembers, switch Dianne off in Account, and delete your account, which removes your information from our server, RevenueCat and the app in one step. What deletion can't reach is spelled out below.
- For 13 and up. Teens need a parent's or guardian's permission. Dianne is for grown-ups: for anyone under 18, the app sends nothing to Anthropic.
What stays on your phone
These are stored on your phone and aren't sent to us unless you ask Dianne something (see the next section):
| What | Details |
|---|---|
| Your birthday | Used to work out your cards. |
| People you add | Their name, birthday, and how you know them (family, a friend, a partner and so on). Please only add people whose information you have a right to share. |
| Soul Journal | Your journal pages and cards. You can lock it with Face ID or your device passcode. The app only learns whether unlocking worked; your face data never reaches us. |
| Conversations with Dianne | Your Reading Room conversations. |
| What Dianne remembers | Short notes and facts Dianne saves from your conversations ("About you"). You can see every one under Account → What Dianne remembers, delete any of them, or choose Forget everything. |
| Settings | Your deck, your daily reminder time, and similar preferences. Reminders are scheduled on your phone; we don't send them from a server. |
| Your age range | If your app store shares one (Apple's Declared Age Range or Google Play's Age Signals, where they offer it), the range it gives: under 13, 13 to 17, or 18 and over. If not, your answer to "Are you 18 or older?" Either one is used only for our age rules, stays on your phone, and is never shared. |
Your phone's backup. If your phone backs up to iCloud or Google, the backup includes everything above, so it can come back when you set up a new phone from it. Apple or Google keeps that backup in your own account, and we can't see it.
If you export or share a copy of your journal, it goes wherever you send it, under that service's privacy terms.
What leaves your phone, and when
Dianne's replies are written by an AI model from Anthropic. A few things are sent on their own; everything else goes only when you do something.
Sent on its own
- Your account ID. The first time you use Dianne, the app sets up a random account ID with our server. It isn't tied to your name or email.
- Your subscription. If you subscribe, the app checks your subscription with RevenueCat, our subscription provider, using that same random ID. Apple or Google tells RevenueCat about your purchase.
- A memory note. When a conversation with Dianne ends (you start a new one, or about six quiet hours go by), the app sends your side of it once more, with her last question, so Dianne can write herself a short memory note. The note comes back to your phone and stays there.
Sent only when you do something
- When you ask Dianne a question: your question and your recent conversation (a set number of recent messages, more on Confidante than on Inner Circle); the card facts the app worked out, such as your cards and ages and those of anyone your question is about, with how you know them (family or a friend, say); and what Dianne remembers about you, so she stays consistent. Other people's birthdays are not sent, although some card dates can give one away. If your question is about your journal ("what did I write last week?"), the pages it means go with it, and the app shows under your question which pages it shared.
- When you ask Dianne to reflect on a journal page: only that page and its cards.
- When you report one of Dianne's replies: that reply, the question it answered, and anything you add.
Each request to Dianne goes through our server to Anthropic, encrypted along the way.
When nothing goes to Anthropic. If you're under 18, or you switch Dianne off in Account, the app sends nothing to Anthropic. You agree to this sharing when you first open the app; switching Dianne off takes that back, and you can switch her on again any time.
The sensitive stuff
Journal pages, moods and conversations can hold tender things, like your health, feelings, relationships or beliefs. We treat them that way:
- They stay on your phone unless they're part of something sent as described above.
- We don't use them for advertising, sell them, or use them to build a profile of you.
- Anthropic may not train its models on them (see The companies that help us).
Please keep financial and account details, like card numbers or passwords, out of your conversations and journal.
What our server keeps
- A random account ID, created the first time you use Dianne, so our server can recognize requests from your app. It isn't tied to your name or email.
- A usage record: the time of each request, its type (question or memory), the AI model used, and its size in tokens (including how much was reused from a short-term cache). We use these to apply your plan's limits, show how much of your allowance is left, and keep costs in check. It contains none of your conversation. Each record is deleted automatically after 12 months.
- Reports you send: the reply you reported, the question it answered, and anything you added. We use them to review Dianne's replies and improve her safeguards, and we delete them after 12 months, or sooner if you delete your account.
- Technical logs: our hosting provider keeps short-lived logs of requests, such as the time and IP address, and our server logs errors so we can keep things running (for example, "AI service unreachable"). We don't write your conversations to these logs.
- Subscription status: if you subscribe, RevenueCat keeps whether your subscription is active and your purchase records from Apple or Google, linked to your random account ID. We never receive your payment card details.
What we don't collect
- No advertising IDs, ad tracking, or tracking across other apps and websites
- No location from your device, precise or approximate
- No contacts, photos, or microphone access
- No analytics or crash-reporting tools, for now
- No selling or renting of personal information, and no sharing for targeted advertising
Do Not Track. Some browsers and phones can send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. We don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't let other companies do it through the app or the website, so there's nothing for these signals to switch off. If you send one anyway, we treat it as a request not to sell or share your information, which we don't do.
The companies that help us
We're small, so we rely on a handful of companies to run the app. They handle information only to provide their service to us.
| Company | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Hosts our server and database (United States, Oregon) | Requests from the app, the random account ID, usage records and reports, and standard request details such as IP address in its logs |
| Netlify | Hosts the website matriarchsmap.com and its deletion request form | Standard request details such as IP address and browser in its logs, and what you send through the deletion form |
| Anthropic | The AI models (Claude) that write Dianne's replies and memory notes. Which Claude model and settings we use may vary by plan and change over time; your information goes only to Anthropic either way | The content of each request described above. To save cost, the parts of a request that don't change (Dianne's instructions and card facts) may be cached by Anthropic for a few minutes and reused. Under its Commercial Terms, Anthropic may not train its models on this data, and it deletes it within 30 days, except where it is flagged for safety review or must be kept by law. |
| Apple / Google | App distribution, payments, Face ID | Their own privacy policies apply. We don't receive your payment details. |
| RevenueCat | Manages subscription status | Your random account ID, your purchase records from Apple or Google, and basic device information such as model, system version and app version |
Refund requests. If you ask Apple for a refund, Apple may ask us how you've used your subscription, to help it decide. RevenueCat answers for us with things like how long you've subscribed, how much of the current period has passed, and your past purchases and refunds. It never includes your conversations, your journal, or anything else you've entered. You agree to this in the Terms of Use.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of our business, in which case this policy still applies.
How long things stay, and deleting them
- On your phone: things stay until you delete them. You can delete journal pages, people, and individual memories, or choose Forget everything. Deleting the app removes it from the phone, but not from your phone's own backups (such as iCloud or Google) or copies you've saved or shared.
- If you cancel a subscription: we don't delete anything on your phone. Your memories stay right where they are, in case you come back, and you can view and delete them any time.
- On our server: the random account ID is kept while you use the app; usage records and reports are deleted automatically after 12 months. Our hosting provider's backups are replaced on their own schedule, within 7 days.
- At RevenueCat: your subscription records are kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete it, except what RevenueCat or the app stores must keep for accounting or legal reasons.
- At Anthropic: deleted within 30 days, with the exceptions described above.
- Deleting your account: in the app, under Account → Delete account. In one step, this deletes your account ID, its usage records and reports on our server, your record at RevenueCat, and everything the app keeps on your phone. It does not cancel a subscription: cancel that in your App Store or Google Play settings, or it will keep renewing. Deleting your account also can't reach copies outside our control: your phone's own backups, copies you saved or shared, Anthropic's short-term copies (deleted within 30 days), our hosting provider's backups (replaced within 7 days), and the purchase records Apple or Google keep. No longer have the app? Ask at matriarchsmap.com/delete-account or at support@matriarchsmap.com. Because the account isn't tied to your name or email, we may not be able to find it, but its usage records are deleted after 12 months either way.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it or delete it. Since most of your information lives on your phone, you can do most of this yourself, right in the app. For anything on our server, write to support@matriarchsmap.com and we'll respond within 45 days.
Depending on where you live (California, Colorado, Virginia, or the EU/UK, for example), you may have more rights, such as getting a copy of your data, objecting to or restricting how it's used, or appealing our decision. Using these rights won't change how we treat you. We don't sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising, and we don't use it to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
How we handle a request. We may ask for something that helps us find your account and confirm the request is really yours, such as the order number from your App Store or Google Play receipt. Because the account isn't tied to your name or email, we may not be able to find or confirm it; if so, we'll tell you why. Someone else can make a request for you with your signed, written permission, and we may check with you directly. If we turn down a request, you can appeal: write to support@matriarchsmap.com with "Appeal" in the subject line, and we'll answer within 60 days. If we still say no, you can contact your state's attorney general.
For users in the EU and UK. Here are the legal bases we rely on:
- To provide the service you ask for (contract): answering your questions, writing memory notes and journal reflections, and managing your subscription.
- Our legitimate interest in a safe, working service: security, fair-use limits, error logs, and reviewing reports.
- Your explicit consent: sending journal pages and other sensitive information to Anthropic. You give it when you first open the app, and you can take it back any time by switching Dianne off.
Our providers process information in the United States. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You may complain to your local data protection authority.
Kids and teens
The app is for people 13 and older. If you're 13 to 17, you may use it only with a parent's or guardian's permission. Your app store may also ask a parent to approve downloads or purchases; we don't collect that permission ourselves. Dianne's AI features, the Reading Room and her journal reflections, are for adults: for anyone under 18, the app sends nothing to Anthropic. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If your app store tells the app that a child under 13 is using it, the app deletes what was entered and closes. If you believe a child has used the app, please tell us at support@matriarchsmap.com.
Where local law asks for more. The minimum age of 13 and the parent's permission are based on the laws for apps like ours. If the law where you live sets a higher age, or asks more of a parent, that rule applies. Keeping Dianne for grown-ups is our own choice, wherever you live.
Your age range. Where your app store offers it (Apple's Declared Age Range on iOS 26 and later, or Google Play's Age Signals), the app asks it whether you're under 13, 13 to 17, or 18 and over when you first open the app, and again once a year. On Android, you're asked to share it first. Where the store gives no answer, the app asks you once whether you're 18 or older; you can change your answer in Account. Either answer stays on your phone, is used only for these age rules, and is never shared. The birthdays you enter are used only for cards, never to decide anyone's age.
Safety, changes, and saying hello
Security. Requests between the app, our server, and Anthropic are encrypted along the way. Our database only lets each account reach its own records, and the AI key lives only on our server, never in the app. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise absolute security.
Outside the US. Our server is in the United States. If you use the app from another country, your requests are processed in the United States.
The website. matriarchsmap.com is hosted by Netlify. It has no cookies, analytics or ads, and its fonts are served from the site itself, so your visit isn't shared with other companies. If you use its form to ask us to delete an account, we receive what you enter (your email address, plus an order number and note if you add them), use it only for your request, and delete it once your request is done.
Changes. If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date, and for important changes, we'll tell you in the app before they take effect.
Thanks for reading this far. If anything here is unclear, write to us; we'd rather explain than leave you guessing.
